Hi Will,

Thanks for the comment.

There are actually a lot places to find information on SEO for MSN and Yahoo. Best place to start is by searching for: "SEO for MSN" and "SEO for Yahoo" of course.

In my opinion, you really want to focus on one search engine as the major engine that you are optimizing for. However, this doesn't mean that you are not going to be able to rank high on the others. The question is: which one? The only way to answer that is to understand where is your best traffic coming from. We talk about some of that in some other posts that I believe will be published soon.

The same tactics of having great content both on and off your site, a well structured site from an SEO perspective, lots of great links to and within your site, page titles, anchor text, etc., etc., will improve your rankings across all SEs.

Some more information, though can be found on sites such as http://searchenginewatch.com/.

There are also tools that you can purchase that will compare your site to others that are ranking high in the different search engines, and offer suggestions as to what you can do to your site to be more effective against those specific competitors and keywords: http://www.totaloptimizer.com/ and http://www.ibusinesspromoter.com/.

Before making wholesale changes to your site, though, make sure that you have covered the basics.

Hope this helps.

Part of the reason Google dominates SEO conversation, is that Google gives so much assistance with understanding how to improve rankings. The other three keep their ranking algorithms a mystery. Why is that? Is there anyplace to find concrete information about MSN and Yahoo search methodologies?
