Marketing to Millennials: The Power of Stranger

Marketing to Millennials: The Power of Stranger

As a children, we were taught “stranger danger.” However, to the Millennial generation a stranger equals an objective source of information. This generation has grown up jaded on advertising and mistrusting of brands. They would rather read a review from a total stranger than directly from a print ad, TV spot or even a friend. By 2017, this generation will have more spending power than any generation before. That is why it is important to manage your company’s reputation on social media and on review sites.

Social media and review sites have become the new customer service. Today top consumer sites like TripAdvisor, Yelp and even iTunes rely on user-generated feedback to help influence others into making a purchase. More than ever, brands need to engage people in these forums and not let negative comments go unaddressed.
