Port Everglades wins award of excellence from AAPA

Port Everglades recently made a giant splash by winning the Award of Excellence from the 2014 American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) Communications Awards. Port Everglades was recognized for its cruise industry video, which was directed and scripted by Starmark. The Port Everglades Powerhouse Cruise Port video incorporates the Port’s “splash” theme with animated water droplets and cresting waves that introduce different segments of the three-minute video. Each segment highlights the big advantages of cruising from Port Everglades – location, speed, service and flexibility with the backdrop of Greater Fort Lauderdale as a vibrant, sunny vacation destination. The video communicates the value of the Port to the local economy, particularly with future renovation and expansion plans announced last year.

Port Everglades’ new world-class cruise industry video debuted March 11 at Cruise Shipping Miami (CSM), the leading international exhibition and conference serving the cruise industry by bringing together buyers and suppliers for a week of networking, sourcing and education. Produced in partnership between Starmark, Port Everglades and LP Media, the 3-minute video highlights the Port’s “advertising campaign with splash water theme” and employs refreshing new technologies and special effects that brand Port Everglades as South Florida’s “Powerhouse Port.”

Cruise and Play in Fort Lauderdale

Royal Caribbean will air this video created by Starmark for Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau aboard all ships that sail through Port Everglades. Originally created to just run on sunny.org and airport and port passenger terminals in Greater Fort Lauderdale, the video will now expose millions more travelers to all of area’s offerings. A little over a minute long, the video demonstrates with humor that not anyone or anything can resist the fun and excitement of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Keep Port Everglades Shipshape

On Saturday morning, Karen Deryk, Creative Services Manager of Starmark, her son, and Lisa Hoffman, Group Account Director of Starmark, joined 100 other participants in the “Keep Port Everglades Shipshape” drum painting event, held at Port Everglades, one of the agency’s AOR clients. In fact, Lisa did more than participate in this worthwhile project. Her painting of an underwater coral reef scene won first prize in the adult category. This community service project transformed recycled petroleum drums into beautiful trash and recycling bins to be used throughout the Port. The event was such a success that Port Director Phil Allen plans to make it annual event.
