Starmark’s Justice Mitchell Gives Talk on Using Social Media

Starmark’s Vice President and Social Media and Interactive Creative Director Justice Mitchell will speak to University of Central Florida School of Communications senior year students April 13 during COMM Day. Mitchell’s talk, “Career Start-Ups: Leveraging Social Media Professionally,” will review the latest tools and best practices to help students transition into the professional world.

Mitchell’s advice is to make social media sites professionally positioned to appeal to recruiters and prospective employers. Steps to take include reviewing content and photography on social media sites and removing anything that a graduate does not want a potential employer to see and/or employing privacy settings. He also recommends making an investment in professional photography to best represent the graduate’s personal brand.

“Students need to consider reality vs perception,” says Mitchell. “The way they look online becomes reality because all you show is all they know.”
