Starmark boosts Marine Association’s efforts with State

At the end of June, Starmark advanced the Marine Industries Association of South Florida’s efforts in Tallahassee and Fort Lauderdale with a major triumph! By raising the association’s profile through news coverage and strategic editorial placements, the Florida Legislature and Governor Rick Scott signed off on an incentive for visiting boaters around the world to have their boat repairs done in the state with a $60,000 sales/service tax cap.

This milestone is yet another in a long string of recent accomplishments during a 12-month community outreach and strategic media campaign. After Governor Scott signed off on this key legislation, the Second Annual Marine Industry Day was celebrated Saturday, June 20, at Esplanade Park on the New River. The timing and weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the day-long celebration that recognized the marinee industry with exhibits, live entertainment including rising country star Amber Leigh, food trucks and fun activities for the kids.

South Florida offers easy access to Latin America and the Caribbean for boaters and by working with the association, our region will be able to protect and grow the 136,000 jobs in the tri-county area.
