Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Easing the parking process for FLL commuters
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) had recently completed a major on-site parking renovation and systems overhaul. Improved designs made parking spaces much easier to find, hence the parking system became faster, easier and more modernized. Even curbside valet parking was added back for all the on-site parking customers who had switched to alternative options off-site. With the recent runway expansion, the number of daily flights rapidly increased and as a result, the number of parking spaces were filling up faster. Because FLL’s loyal customers were not always able to find a spot, the organization was challenged to keep up with the increasing demand.
In April, 2017, FLL announced the addition of more than 3,000 new on-site parking spots that would open May 15. To increase awareness of the newly added spaces, FLL challenged Starmark to develop a communication vehicle to keep its regular on-site visitors informed. The Starmark team met the challenge and created a billboard with a real-time space counter that would be installed along the main highway (I-595) on approach to the airport. Now, as drivers pass by, the actual number of available parking spaces is displayed in bold numbers that update in real-time. Not only does the board educate the public about the new addition of the spaces, it informs the number of available spaces on site and will continue to do so for the next 12 months.
Say hello to stress-free parking. Woo hoo!
